THE ROBERT E HOWARD LIBRARY
NOTE: I edited these volumes of Robert E Howard stories but I chose to be listed as editor only on the first volume which wasn't, strictly speaking, part of the series. (The series was a later idea which sprang from the success of the first volume.)
I'm occasionally asked why I didn't reprint Almuric. First, because it's a terrible book.
Second, I don't believe it was written by Howard. Supposedly the manuscript turned up in the office of Howard's agent, Otis Adelbert Kline, after Howard's death. Kline then sent the novel to Weird Tales, which published it. As the Burroughsian SF novel (sword-and-planet) was precisely the sort of thing Kline himself had made a career writing but differs from anything else Howard himself wrote, I strongly suspect the mss was first found, page by page, in Kline's own typewriter.
